H-Art Talk: DK THE ICON ARTIST DK is an outstanding and versatile Master icon artist with about 15 years of experience in iconography. But thats only here, in this life time. Seeing his art through The Eye of the Soul, its clear to me that DK has more experience with icons than meets the human eye. He must have labored hard to earn these skills in previous incarnations....as he is a clearly privileged recipient of his fruits of labor from sacred lives so loved and honored before.... This time around, as an icon artist, DK has trained with the most esteemed and disciplined hagiographer Masters and Priests of High Standing. It is from them that he has learned to use the same techniques of icon preparation as used in original Byzantine times. To these Masters and Holy Men, like to their follower and disciple DK, iconography is not an art. Rather, its a celestial rite, a holy communion, a Sacred Space of worship, adoration, learning and creation that the Divas only allow but a select few to enter. Many aspire to be icon artists. But it takes more than aspiration. It takes a conscious spiritual journey into celestial revelations of the prophetic realms. A progressive path of initiation into The Privileged Circle of The Sacred Ones. As only they impart the Divine Understanding necessary to support the mystical rites of Sacred iconography. For unless these icons carry the power of invocation of the Sacred Ones they depict, they are not worth more than the piece of wood they are on. Authentic iconography is a privileged spiritual path of superhuman self-effort and self-discipline. A skill that is always earned and never given. Always learned that whats given must be earned. DK has clearly earned it. H-Art Talk on Product Information This stunning and exclusive collection contains the following categories of celestial art.... each welled up one dreamy day from the depth of DKs Sacred Heart: Hand painted reproductions of original Byzantine style icons closely resembling the original version; DKs modified renditions of original icons; and DKs personal, original works as well. Gold leaf is used on most of his icons. According to DK, most of his icons are made to last for generations. As to the wood itself, DK favors three types: 1). Natural dried wood. My favorite! So thick, so raw, so bare, so basic so resonating with Greater Life. So Divinely seductive, so irresistibly inviting. The most expensive version too. 2). Layered wood, the type boats are made of to resist moisture. DKs favorite, medium priced. 3). And then you have, what I contemptuously call, the low class wood. But with continued high class quality work, nevertheless. Its pressed wood product. Meant to make DKs stunning, sacred art affordable to all. My least favorite. But thats just my opinion. Man made mingling with natural products bothers me. But, nevertheless...his art on it leaves me breathless still....hence I have them too.....With me, its like this people....if DK touched it with his Midas Magic...I want it. And lastly, the types of wood used is mentioned in each listing. The sizes listed here are approximate as they are rounded down to the closest whole numbers in inches. As the wood was cut to makes sense in centimeters.... Now, we all know the conflicting convolutions that these two systems tend to create... And we are not going to get into the middle of that. We like things smooth and simple. Hence my rounding things up and down in this manner: For the width and height of the icon, give or take 1-4 eighth of an inch. Mostly give. And most sizes listed here are exact. For the thickness of the icon give or take circa 2 eighth of an inch. Mostly take. Unless it says half an inch. As a rule, thats always half an inch. The one and two inch sizes may be a couple of eighths of an inch less here and there. Some listings will specify the approximate weight, give or take a few oz, just to show the sturdiness and solidity of the piece. For others with more average sizes the weights are not specified. All such details, including exact measurements, however, are available on all items upon request to those seriously interested in buying a particular piece.
